Humans have developed scientific protocols to be followed before birth, called antenatal care (ANC), for better and healthy newborn outcomes. Ayurveda, ANC protocol focuses on the formation of viable, mature, and potent gametes and non-consanguine marriage as a preconception prerequisite; after conception, there is starting of Garbhini Paricharya (pregnancy) till birth. Pregnancy is a susceptible point in a woman’s life, as unhealthy and uneasy conditions in this period can lead to severe complications for the mother and offspring. Considering the enormity of the pregnancy period, Ayurveda applies the Rasayana drug, diet, and routine in pregnant women during the antenatal period as Masaanumasika Garbhini Paricharya, i.e., month-wise daily regimen. Rasayana drug and diet is Oja Vriddhikara, i.e., increases the nutrition of all body tissues, and enhances the immunity, enthusiasm, and vitality of mother and fetus. Godugdha (Cow’s milk) and Goghrita (Cows Ghee) is the best Rasayana Aahara and Bheshaja in Indian diet. Adequate and judicious use of cow’s milk and ghee along with Rasayana medication followed by certain dos and don’ts is the mainstream of Masaanumasika Garbhini Paricharya for the birth of healthy, intelligent, and long-living offspring. The present article explains the Rasayana approach of Ayurveda in antenatal care.
2024-02-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Deveshwari N Raut , Swapnil C Raskar https://pujhsr.paruluniversity.ac.in/index.php/home/article/view/31 Effect of Prolong Sitting For Continuous 3 Hours On Neuromuscular And Cardio-respiratory System In College Students- An Observational Study 2023-08-31T03:54:50+00:00 Dr. Simrah Pathan simrah.pathan24584@paruluniversity.ac.in Trupti Yadav simrah.pathan24584@paruluniversity.ac.in Krutika Yadav simrah.pathan24584@paruluniversity.ac.in
ABSTRACT

Background: The prolong sitting has adverse effects on body’s physical fitness. Since the students are sitting in college during lecture hours, their physical fitness is being compromised. There are studies that have proved that inactivity can affect various systems.

Method: The study included 50 students randomly whose age ranged between 18-22 years college going.. The students were then assessed for the flexibility with Sit and reach test, for aerobic capacity with Harward Step Test and for Balance with One Leg Standing. The values for each outcome measure were noted and were assessed again after 15 days when they completed sitting for 3 hours each day.

Result: The analysis show statistical significant difference between and pre and post values of all the outcome measures. The Paired sample t test was used to compare between the data for which Z value was negative which confirms the post value were more. The p value was significant (p<0.05) at 95% confidence interval.

Conclusion: Due to prolong sitting for continues 3 hours for 15 days resulted in reduction in the physical fitness of the students. All three systems was compromised when assessed after 15 days which says that due to prolong sitting, the flexibility, aerobic capacity and balance gets compromised which ultimately reduced the performance of the student.

Clinical Implication: The study says that the students lecture shouldn’t continue for prolong period of time and intermittent break is needed. As this affects the physical fitness of the students with upcoming years till they complete the degree overall performance can be compromised to greater extent. For which various self awareness should be advised and intermittent breaks with various stretches and exercise should be taught.
2024-02-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Dr. Simrah Pathan, Trupti Yadav , Krutika Yadav https://pujhsr.paruluniversity.ac.in/index.php/home/article/view/29 Effects of Sub-Occipital Muscles Inhibition and Self Stretch on Calf and Hamstring Muscle Tightness: One Time Comparative Study 2023-08-01T05:14:22+00:00 Shruti Panchal shruti.panchal28213@paruluniversity.ac.in Dharaben Patel shruti.panchal28213@paruluniversity.ac.in Ambica Mall shruti.panchal28213@paruluniversity.ac.in Threety Pruchhak shruti.panchal28213@paruluniversity.ac.in
Background: Muscle tightness is the most limiting factors for restricted ROM and decreased flexibility of the joint. Hamstring muscles and calf muscles are more prone to get tight which causes musculoskeletal problems. This study focused on checking effects of various therapeutic techniques including sub-occipital muscle inhibition technique and self-stretching technique on hamstring and calf muscles flexibility in subjects with tight muscle group.

Objectives: To determine effects of sub-occipital muscles inhibition and self-stretch on calf and hamstring muscle tightness.

Methodology: A total number of 60 subjects of age between 20 to 45years wear analyzed by Active knee extension test, Passive dorsiflexion test, Sit and reach test to assess the of sub-occipital muscles inhibition and self-stretch on calf and hamstring muscle tightness.

Result: Showed significant improvement on AKE following suboccipital muscle inhibition (pre= 135.9; post = 162.63) and self-stretching (pre= 137.53; post=162.13) Had been obtained by comparing pre and post intervention values of outcome measures AKE () (AKE, SRT and Ankle DF) by using paired t-test whereas between group comparison of post data mean and SD is done by impaired t-test

Conclusion: From the results it is concluded that sub-occipital muscle inhibition technique is more effective in relieving tightness from hamstring and calf group of muscles as compared to self-stretching technique in AKE, SRT and Ankle dorsi-flexion.
2024-02-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Shruti Panchal, Dharaben Patel , Ambica Mall , Threety Pruchhak https://pujhsr.paruluniversity.ac.in/index.php/home/article/view/34 Revisiting the Blocksom Vesicostomy Technique in a very sick child with Bilateral high-grade VUR: A Case Report 2024-02-19T07:18:31+00:00 Vivek Viswanathan vivek25486@gmail.com
Vesicoureteric reflux (VUR) is a common cause of repeated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in children. Vesicostomy is considered in selective cases of high grade as an initial temporary procedure to effectively empty the bladder, prevent urinary stasis and chances of reflux, and reduce the incidence of UTI, thereby protecting the upper tracts. The most commonly followed temporary urinary diversion procedure is the one described by Blocksom in 1957. The method is simple, effective, and easy to perform, reversible, protects the upper tracts, and minimizes the incidence of UTIs.
2024-02-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Vivek Viswanathan https://pujhsr.paruluniversity.ac.in/index.php/home/article/view/35 Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissue Masquerading as a Fibroma - A Rare Clinical Entity 2024-02-19T07:22:06+00:00 Vivek Viswanathan vivek25486@gmail.com
Giant cell tumor of the soft tissue (GCT-ST) is a rare and distinctive entity, separate from its bony counterpart, giant cell tumor of bone. This primary soft tissue tumor is often encountered in middle-aged individuals but rarely in children, with common sites including superficial soft tissue of the extremities. GCT-ST typically presents as a painless, slowly growing mass, emphasizing the importance of complete excision to prevent recurrences and metastasis.

We present a case of GCT-ST in a 7-year-old boy with a nodular swelling on the right hip, initially suspected to be a fibroma. Histopathological examination revealed characteristic features of GCT-ST, including spindle and stellate cells, multinucleated giant cells, and haemosiderin-laden macrophages with metaplastic osseous tissue. This case adds to the limited literature on GCT-ST, highlighting its diverse clinical presentations and challenging diagnostic nature.

The discussion includes a review of reported cases of GCT-ST, which have shown varied clinical presentations and outcomes. Histologically, GCT-ST resembles a giant cell tumor of bone, with positive staining for CD68, SMA, Vimentin, and p63. Imaging studies typically reveal a solid hemorrhagic mass. Differential diagnoses include benign and malignant soft tissue tumors rich in giant cells.
2024-02-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Vivek Viswanathan https://pujhsr.paruluniversity.ac.in/index.php/home/article/view/36 Phage Therapy to Tackle Difficult-To-Treat Bacterial Infections - What's The Future? 2024-02-19T07:27:27+00:00 Anant Marathe anant.marathe@paruluniversity.ac.in
As quoted in the Bhagwat Gita, the life of one living being depends on the life of another living being “(जीवो जीवस्य जीवनम)“. The relationship between two living beings can range from symbiotic to commensal to parasitic. In a parasitic relationship, one of the partners derives the benefit (parasite) from the other partner (Host) even, sometimes, at the cost of the host's life. One such relationship exists between the viruses that can infect Bacteria. These viruses are known as phage viruses. This activity of viruses was taken advantage of to use them as potential antibacterial agents [1]. Universal increase in antibiotic resistance and decline in newer antibiotic discovery led to renewed interest in using phage viruses as antibacterial agents..
2024-02-19T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Anant Marathe
